Supporting our local, national and international communities...
Since 1875, we have always supported and worked closely with the communities in which we operate. As we continue to grow as a business, our community engagement is just as important to us as ever.
By providing financial, in-kind, practical and employee volunteering support to charities, good causes and community groups each year, we continue to support our local, national and international communities.
We also work in partnership with local schools, taking part in a variety of events to help pupils develop their business awareness as well as supporting them to develop some of the softer skills required in the workplace.
Some of our community highlights include:
- In 2016, Macmillan Cancer Support became our first ever employee-chosen charity partner following a company-wide vote. Our corporate donation of £150,000 supports Macmillan nursing care and key Macmillan support centres in Scotland and England. In addition, every employee sets out to raise £27 each during each year of the partnership. £27 funds one hour of MacMillan nursing care, so our employees aim to raise enough to fund 3,000 hours of nursing help and support for thousands of people with cancer across the country.
- In partnership with Keep Scotland Beautiful and other soft drinks manufacturers, we are supporting a new £250K campaign to tackle roadside litter across Scotland, through awareness raising and behaviour change.
- 500,000 bottles of water provided every year in support of a variety of community events, with a particular emphasis on promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles through the sponsorship of community and charity road races.
Every year we update on our recent corporate responsibility activity within our Annual Report. To learn more about "our community" progress please access our Annual and interim reports page.
