BARR BRANDS FACTS
- IRN-BRU is known as Scotland’s 'other national drink' where we sell twelve 330ml can equivalents of IRN-BRU every second.
- IRN-BRU was voted the Best Brand of the last 21 years at the 2007 Scottish Advertising Awards Ceremony in Glasgow. At the same ceremony IRN-BRU won ‘Best Poster’ for ‘Bitches’, ‘Best Radio Commercial’ for ‘Furry Liquid’, ‘Best Slogan’ for ‘Made in Scotland from Girders’ and Best Advertising Campaign’ for ‘See What IRN-BRU can do for You’ of the last 21 years.
- ‘IRN-BRU holds the Guinness Book of World records for the largest Can Can. This was achieved in Glasgow Green on Sunday 13th September 2009 when 10,000 people attended the ‘IRN-BRU Can Clan’ event as part of the brands support of ‘Home Coming Scotland’.
- Tizer, was launched over eighty years ago.
- By 2011 we had doubled the sales of the Rubicon Brand since we bought the business in 2008.
- Our returnable glass bottle business (RGB’s) in Scotland is unique in the soft drinks market as the last remaining packaging return and re-use systems in operation in the UK.
There are 16 Barr flavours for consumers to choose from in the returnable glass bottle range
- In April 2008 Barr Originals, a range of great tasting traditional flavoured carbonated drinks were launched in 750ml glass bottles in Dandelion and Burdock, Ginger Beer, Cream Soda and Traditional Lemonade flavours. They are also available in 330ml cans and 330ml crown cork glass bottles
- Strathmore Spring Water is the market leader in the On-Trade.
- Rockstar the energy drinks brand from the US which we started to distribute in the UK in October 2007 has already sold over 1,000,000,000 cans to date in North America since it was launched there in 2001.
- KA sales have quadrupled over the last 10 years making it the best performing brand in the UK carbonates market.
BARR OPERATIONS FACTS
- We have invested over £50 million in our production, warehousing and distribution facilities at Cumbernauld which will enable us to produce 21 million cases or 180 million litres of product in 2008.
- To build it we had to move 3,000 truckloads of earth – over 100,000 tonnes, and use 2,200 tonnes of steel and 700 tonnes of concrete. The cladding on the side of the building is held in place by 280,000 bolts.
- The new warehouse facility covers an area of land equivalent to 5 football pitches.
- The new high bay warehouse, at 115ft, is as tall as a cathedral and can hold up to 12,000 pallets stacked 14 pallets high.
- The automated systems which operate the highbay warehouse can transfer 100 pallets per hour.
- Our new can line at Cumbernauld is capable of producing 690 million cans per year.
