Nearly ten thousand people attended the IRN-BRU Can Clan event held on Sunday 13th September 2009 in Glasgow Green as part of Scotlands ‘Home Coming’ year. Hosted by popular actor and writer Sanjeev Kohli with music from ‘The Zutons’ and ‘Pearl And The Puppets’ IRN-BRU smashed the world record for the Can Can.
An official adjudicator from Guinness World Records, Jack Brockbank, was in attendance to oversee proceedings and he was able to confirm that the new record had been set after the required five minutes of cancan moves.
IRN-BRU has renewed its contract as official soft drink sponsor of the Rugby League until 2011. The 2010 season sees IRN-BRU move into their second year of their sponsorship of the Super League, which will see the soft drink continue to support at all Cup competitions, including the Challenge Cup, Carnegie Cup, Play Offs and Murrayfield Magic 2010.
As well as the RFL Sponsorship, IRN-BRU will also continue to sponsor live coverage of all 60 Super League games on Sky Sports as well as “Boots N’ All”, and Engage Super League coverage online for the coming season.
The sponsorship with Sky Sports and Rugby Football League has helped raise the profile and visibility of IRN-BRU reaching over 10 million viewers through the 60 live games broadcast during the season.

IRN-BRU has renewed it’s sponsorship of the Scottish Football League for another three years, until 2013. The new deal was unveiled at Hampden Park by A.G. Barr’s Head of Marketing, Adrian Troy and SFL Chief Executive, David Longmuir. The agreement, which will commence at the start of the 2010 – 2011 season is worth in excess of £3 million over the course of the sponsorship and will comprise of both financial investment and added value activity.
IRN-BRU is looking forward to continuing to build on the investment and development the previous sponsorship deal has provided at a grassroots level. There will be several exciting new initiatives introduced during the new sponsorship in which fans can get involved with and help their local club.

The IRN-BRU brand has supported Queens Park F.C. with sponsorship investment for over 13 years. Queens Park F.C. was founded in 1867, and is the oldest club in Scotland, the second oldest senior club in the world and the oldest amateur club in the world playing in senior football. They are a founder member of the Scottish Football League and the only amateur FC in the football league and are based at Hampden Park the national football stadium. The principle purpose of the club is to make the game of football available to as many players as possible and they perform a keyrole in community life in Glasgow. They operate Senior, reserves and teams at under 12, 13, 14, 15,16 and 18: each with 3 coaches assigned (20 coaches at the club) and 20 players per team.
Free community coaching sessions are organised once per month at Lesser Hampden open to all boys and girls between the age of 6 and 15 years with refreshments provided by us. Our sponsorship support has also funded an additional youth team and community development programme which included the purchase of two team minibuses. The club are also assisting Glasgow City Council with a major programme of sports coaching in Glasgow Secondary schools.
